Why?

This error happens because MTP service is not running therefore the device cannot look for specific drivers.

The CD bundled with the device is not actually the drivers its just an application interface for Creative Zen X-Fi so MTP service is the real solution.

I encounter this problem with my PC installed Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Media Player 11.

THE SOLUTION

Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Media Player 10.

Step by Step

Install Windows XP Service Pack 3 so that Media Player 10 can be installed, do not install any application from the cd just insert Creative Zen X-Fi USB so the drivers will automatically installed, then install the application from the cd to manage sounds and videos.
